malaran vilm credits
Look at all the great people responsible for all this fun stuff!

Please note: malaran vilms are made for inspiration / experimentation only and to showcase the magic of sound and video. For ENTERTAINMENT and EDUCATIONAL purposes only. What you see here is NOT FOR REUSE without permission and onscreen credit to myself and the others credited within the vilm. All music/sounds/video clips borrowed are sole property of their brilliant creators and I claim NO ownership of the audio or video that was not created by myself. Thanks to all the creative energy makers in the world that make this a cool place to live in! I love how we all can work together and inspire one another : )

Why do I call these videos "vilms" you may ask? Simple. These are not films. These are little digital videos that act like little films. Video is not film. They are two different animals, two different mediums, and I totally respect that.

Little Computer

Andreas bought a little old macintosh from this big flea market in Stockholm. As we ascended the escalator I thought the little computer would enjoy the ride. It also just happened to be that during that trip to Stockholm I was introduced to this great song on a cd that Andreas had just bought days before... it just seemed like a perfect match.

Schizophrenia

I woke up one morning winter 2002 and went to get cereal in the kitchen. On my table was a swedish newspaper, a souvenir from my recent trip to Stockholm, and it hit me. Was I really just there? Was it all a dream? Was I losing my mind? I felt like I hadn't even left home, so how did the newspaper get here... I felt like I was doing ten things all at once... a real schizo feeling.

Amazingly this was created and edited all in under an hour.

***NOTE to viewers! ***
Wow! To my surprise, Kylie Minogue's new video "Come Into My World" uses the same multiple person concept I have used for this video "Schizophrenia"!

Wow! What a happy coincidence! : ) Cool!

Of course, hers is far more sophisticated, but hey, I made mine first, by myself (with JoAnn), in my living room and all in under an hour for free! : )

Punkrocker

Basically, I wanted to get a bunch of the people that I would miss from my old job together and create a little album that we could cherish forever and ever and ever... and ever. The music is another gem that I was introduced to in Stockholm by Andreas. I thought it was fitting for all my punkrockin' peeps!

Sex and the City of Miami (a parody)

I am a HUGE fan of Sex and the City. I am an even HUGER fan of the Golden Girls! One night when watching the Lifetime Netwrok daily marathon of Golden Girls I realized Oh... my... god... they are the girls from Sex and the City... years from now!!!!! It was truly uncanny, I had to experiment to see for myself... the result was amazing, making me love the HBO gem and Lifetime beauties even more so!!! Consider this the most creative fan site for the two shows ever : )

I experimented with these clips from both shows and produced two rough "episodes"
God! I love these shows!

It was educational to me actually, the whole process. I learned a great deal with this one.

Ciao Roma

On the train from Roma to Venice I was hypnotized by the views we passed... countryside, farm life, city life, no life... and I felt so sentimental leaving Roma and my friends behind...

Swing

The Roman nightlife... on four wheels. As Giacomo zigzagged thru the streets of Rome all those things I remember studying in my fourth grade textbooks came to life, lit up and three-dimensional. Amazing! We listened to "Ocean of Joy" one of Giacomo's brilliant musical creations. What a memory... Vatican City is teeny.

Victim

Ask Angel. I was up at 5am construction this thing that I can attach this brown, sharp-toothed, stuffed creature I bought (named Domokun, a Japanese mascot) and my camera so it looked as if he was chasing me in my worst nightmare... So that morning Angel and I went into my backyard and turned this crazy idea I had, that I couldn't really even explain to her, into reality. Angel just played along, it was perfect. I wonder what my janitor was thinking when he stood atop the steps and watched me being chased by this thing...

Baltic

This vilm is the only work I have ever created that has made me cry, as well as others... it is a living memory of an amazing boat ride in the waters of the Baltic Sea, through the stillest warm waters, on the most perfect day. The music is a song by my friends Goats in Trees. This song "Ferryboat" has always occupied a place in my heart since it's lead singer, Monica Cohen, now Monica Crigler gave me their cd at work one day... I always knew that this song had greater, deeper meaning for me... I just didn't know how deep until I put it with my imagery.

Note to self for the future, never squirt sea water at a video camera, especially if it is your own.
